TURNHOUT HOTEL TER DRIEZEN |
Hostellerie Ter Driezen is a charming little town centre hotel. Both the exterior and the interior seem to indicate that the building has always been a hotel, but it was actually built as the official residence for the mayor of Turnhout in 1830. In 1975, hosts Gust and Liesbeth Keersmaekers started the hotel and demonstrably put their hearts and souls into it. Liesbeth is an excellent cook and Ter Driezen is a renowned address for dinning with friends and buisiness contacts alike. Gust is alway around to give guests a warm welcome and his enthusiasm ensures a relaxed atmosphere.
Classical furniture, crystal chandeliers and beautiful oriental rugs on the wooden floors, are part of the hotel's stylish interior decoration. Guests may enjoy their pre-dinner drinks in the lounge, wich on wintery days is always heated by fire. The secluded back garden is well tended by Gust, and is a pleasant spot to dine on a hot summers evening.
The menu offers dishes such as a salad of smoked salmon, lightly marinated scallops and each selection of cheeses is recommanded.
The rooms overlooking the garden are the quietest and each one is made unique by it's old fashioned and classical furniture and fabrics. In Turnhout, the "Begijnhof" is worth seeing and, in summer, street theater at the Grote Markt livens up the town.
